ExtensionSmallImg What is .tif file?

TIF stands for Tagged Image File, also known as Tagged Image File Format (TIFF). The files with the .tif extension contain high-quality graphic images with many colors like digital photos, digital faxes and scanned documents. TIF files can be saved in an uncompressed format or can be converted the JPEG (lossy) file format, which compresses the size of the TIF file, but also reduces the quality of the image that the file contains. TIF files can also use LZW lossless compression which reduces the file size, and does not affect the quality of the image.
